Trains to EdinburghEdinburgh is very well served by public transport. At peak times, there is a train every 15 minutes to Glasgow. Two train services operate from Edinburgh namely Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) and Virgin trains. The Great North Eastern Railway offers services between Glasgow and London. Several stations are located along the route including all the major cities, as well as smaller cities and towns. Virgin Trains offers train services throughout the UK mainland to over 130 stations with Cross-Country trains and West Coast trains. Dozens of major cities are included on the train routes, as well as several smaller cities and towns.
All trains to Edinburgh go to Waverley station, off Waverley Bridge at the east end of Princes Street. This street houses the main train ticket booking office. During peak hours, you may have to wait for half an hour to catch a train. You can find taxis that collect passengers from the station concourse, but if the queue is depressingly long, there's another taxi rank on Waverley Bridge. All trains to the north and to the west coast, including Glasgow, also stop at Haymarket station. The Edinburgh public transport websites provides the timetable for these trains, which may be helpful for you to plan your travel.
