Alexandra Theater in Birmingham

Birmingham rep theater was opened in 1913 just before the first World War by Sir Barry Jackson on Station Street. Since then it has been a leading theatre in Birmingham and has remained a springboard to many acclaimed actors, directors and designers. In 1971, the Company moved into the purpose-built theater complex on Broad Street, adjacent to the International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall. In 1998 the Company launched The Door, a venue dedicated to the production and presentation of new work. Through Door, Birmingham rep provides vital opportunities for the young and emerging writing talents in order to carve a way for the future theatre.

The Alexandra theater located on Station Street is the another exciting entertainment spot in Birmingham. The Alexandra theater Birmingham is one of the major touring centres of the city and it has a seating capacity of around 1347 seats. The theater has played host to some of the best major touring musicals such as Doctor Dolittle, West Side Story, The King and I, Oliver! and Les Miserables. Its also home to comedy shows, concerts, and some fantastic children's productions. In 2003, the theater launched the Alexandra Theatre Kid's Club with its very own mascot 'Alex the Alien'. The Club is targeted for kids aged between 4-12 years.

Apart from Birmingham Rep and Alexandra theater, Birmingham theatre also includes mac located a mile south of the city. Mac is a home to theater performaces, music, comedy, plays for children, literature, poetry, magic, family shows and exhibitions. Theaters in Birmingham also includes the oldest groups such as The Crescent Theatre Co, The Encore Theater Co, and the Hall Green Little Theater. The Crescent Theater is one of the Birmingham's oldest theater with high quality entertainment at affordable prices. The theatre is located in the heart of the city which is a part of the Brindley place.The Hall Green Little Theater is yet another oldest theater in Birmingham. It was founded in 1950's and still conducts plays in and around West Midlands.
